The Fab Five Clog On on Americas Got Talent

Hope you are all voting for The Fab Five on America’s Got Talent!

I thought they did another great job tonight and am so excited for them. I hope they win it all on America’s Got Talent!

I did get some feedback on Facebook and other places about the music selection and costumes. Some were for, some were against.

What do you think?

A Bit of America’s Got Talent Controversy?

Also, what did you all think of the comment by Arcadian Broad?

If I could say something…I didn’t have this planned. I didn’t want to do High School Musical; the producers gave me this hand…

I thought it was really funny how the judges and Emcee tried to cover.

It’s up to America who stays on this show…

and

The acts do have a final say on what they do when they perform.

Is there any doubt that somehow poor Arcadia WON’T be coming back? Interesting is all I have to say about that 🙂

Comments

  1. They did great, routine-wise. They were spot-on. The costumes, I think were iffy. My only concern is who they’re up against. I am assuming Kevin Skinner and Texas Tenors have 2 of the 4 spots. Probably AcroDunk has spot #3, and I bet you the judges would pick Voices of Glory if they had to. So I think they did a great job, and kicked butt, but I am not sure they’ll make it….

    • Thanks for the comment Amy! I think your comments are all valid, although I can’t IMAGINE Kevin Skinner or the Texas Tenors beating The Fab Five. Granted, I’m not a singer but both singing groups, in fact, ALL the singing groups, made me cringe a bit.

As far as the costumes and music, I’ve seen better, especially having been in clogging for my whole life. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen something like that. The drums and symbols seem to distract from the best the girls have to offer: power, precision, and great smiles.

Wonder how much “the producers” had to do with the selection…?

    • If it really happened that way and it were down to Fab Five and Voices of Glory then I think Fab Five would go through. Too many singers if Kevin Skinner, Texas Tenors, AND Voices of Glory made it. Same reason why they chose Rory over Charles Dewayne if I remember correctly. I haven’t actually seen the show though since got out of work late, but after reading some comments made, I can’t wait till they put it up on AGT’s website.

  2. I agree with you about the singers, but having watched every Season of America’s Got Talent, it’s usually the singers that make the finals, which irks me. If I wanted to see just singers, I would be watching American Idol. I want a VARIETY show!!

I also agree, I could have done without the drumsticks and trash can lids, though I appreciate they were trying to add something different to the routine. As for costumes, all I could think on those hats was “if the feathers on those hats get in their eyes, they’re done for!”

    • I also wondered about the comment about “slowing things down a bit”. Clogging is about high energy and rhythm. Wonder how they plan (or if they do) to slow things down?

We shall see, we shall see!

      • As far as the slowing it down comment… I think he was just trying to say he wants to see something different. They are fantastic definitely, but they have all been line dances. I think for a variety if they did some couple work or different postions and movements other than lines it would give a different feel while still showing their amazing clogging abilities. They don’t have to be slower… just a different feel. 🙂

  3. Costumes looked too much like tap for me, and I noticed on the AGT website that they are listed as “Power Tap Dancers”. Just my opinion, but I can’t stand seeing cloggers wearing hats throughout a dance. Now what they did with the hats during 911 was great! Put them on your head, lift them off, do something with a little flare, then lay them down and get to clogging! 🙂

True Nate….clogging is about high energy and rhythm, but it’s also known as a “dance of the feet”. My take on the “slowing it down” comment is that perhaps they can add some acapella, some rhythms and cadences. America has seen them dance hard and fast three times now….perhaps it’s time to shift the focus to a rich variety of sound….let their feet become a five piece rhythm band, each one playing a different instrument.

The Fab 5 ROCKED!!! As a clogger, I can appreciate how difficult that routine really was. The footwork is tough enough and then they added the props. I think it helped to give it more of a Vegas look and show some versatility, which is what they were probably trying to do. I probably would have left the feather off the hat. Either way, these girls are AWESOME and I have already cast all the votes I possibly can! They are awesome and I hope they win it all!!

  5. I thought that the Fab 5 did a wonderful job!! All of them. I really think that they were the only ones that brought it this week. The husband and wife team could have pulled something better than what they did. As well as many of the acts. I was wondering how the girls were going to go from that fabulous firefighting routine to something even better. They pulled it off. Coming from all angles, they rocked the house tonight!!! Way to go girls!!

  6. I think they ROCKED! It is hard to pull out a bunch of creativity, risk all these different moves, and have hard and clean footwork, all within 2 weeks. And they have lives of being mothers too! True that ‘slowing down’ with clogging is a little hard to do, but I completely agree with Jayne about doing acapella. A lot of the time people new to clogging are taken back by the high energy of it, but when you hear the sounds and rhythms you get a whole different performance. Maybe the whole dance doesn’t need to be rhythms, but if they make it into the finals (and I REALLY HOPE they do!), I would like to see some of that aspect of clogging or power tap, whichever you prefer to call it.

  7. Of all the performances, Fab 5 really did have the cleanest most entertaining act. If the judges request a slow down…I think they wanna hear that clean sound…Clean sound is tougher to produce slow and would show the judges their well roundedness. I think if they come to the finals with a start in Acapella and move to a cadence…put some partner moves in and build up to a fast frenzy…..
And I totally think they should have at least trimmed that feather on their hats…it just flopped all over the place…not attractive in my opinion….And yeah Arcadian is going home…back talking/whining at the judges doesn’t make you easy to work with. And maybe the producers did give him the choice but maybe they saw this attitude before the “musical”.

  8. I think they can pull it off but they have to think out of the box like each dancer do a solo bit like the old tap dancers used to do. It would shake things up !

  9. The Fab 5 is in the AGT Finals performs next week, on Tuesday, 5 more acts in the finals. Get ready for the FAB 5 Cloggers of Utah on AGT Finals. Will the FAB 5 makes the headlining in Vegas and $1 million? Stay tuned for America’s Got Talent the second semi-finals for tomorrow!!!
